Joan Wilson, 83, of Hillsboro, formerly of Greenville, died at 9:44 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

A private graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Greenville, with the Rev. Randy Sands, pastor of the Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ms. Wilson was born on July 23, 1938, in Mulberry Grove, to Paul and Dana (Davis) Justi. She married David Wilson on June 1, 1963. They later divorced.

Ms. Wilson was a graduate of Greenville High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Mrs. Wilson was a teacher at Greenville High School for the Bond County School District. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Ms. Wilson loved to read and travel. She took many trips with high school groups over the years. 

Ms. Wilson is survived by her children, Kelly (husband David) Powell of Hillsboro and David “Chip” Wilson of Spring Valley, MN; grandchildren, Olivia Powell of Louisville, KY and Madelyn (husband OlaOluwa) Animashaun of Granite City; and siblings, Dr. William Justi, Dr. Ward Justi and June Kepley.
