Jerry Barham, 83, of Coal City died on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, at Arcadia Care in Morris.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 15, at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City. Burial followed in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington.
Mr. Barham was born on Feb. 7, 1941, in Hillsboro to the late Arthur James and Florence (Weddle) Barham. He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School. He married Rita Pfister and they lived in Diamond and later Coal City where they raised their two sons. She preceded him in death.
He worked as a machinist at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet until he retired. He mowed grass for Coal City School District and that evolved to a full-time janitorial position for several years before he retired the second time.
Mr. Barham is survived by his sons, Mark (Fiancée Rose Gabriel) Barham of Elk Grove Village and Greg (Linda) Barham of Plainfield; grandson, Bobby Barham; step-grandchildren, Hala Daramjee and Joey and Frankie Nagy; brother, Mike (Eugenia) Barham of Auburn; brother-in-law, Robert (the late Mary) Pfister of Arlington, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris DeVries and Beulah Faye Helfer; brothers, Robert and Norris Mack; and nephews, Kenny DeVries and Steve Helfer.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
