Janelle Ann (Floreth) Lockwood Cranford, 74, of Conyers, GA, died due to complications related to cancer on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, peacefully with her children by her side.

A virtual funeral service will be held online beginning at 10:30 a.m.  Tuesday, Aug. 18, on the Facebook page of Unity East of Atlanta (facebook.com/unityeastofatlanta).

Mrs. Cranford was born on Nov. 14, 1945, in Litchfield, to Nelson and Victoria Jane (Swartz) Floreth. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 1967 and her master’s degree in 1968 in elementary education from the Southern Illinois University. 

She was a passionate fourth grade teacher from 1968 to 1974 before becoming dedicated mother of two.  She saw the good in everyone and everything, and had an infectious voice and laugh that would make anyone smile. She loved many things, but most of all she loved her family and friends. 

In addition to Litchfield, during her life she lived in Carbondale, Chicago, Carlinville, Miami and Key West before finally settling down in Conyers, GA.

She is survived by her daughter, Christina Lockwood of San Francisco, CA; her son the Honorable Robert (Lesly) Lockwood of Key West, FL; her beloved grandsons Cord Jacob and Robert Ryan Jr.; two brothers, Mike and Fred (Lauren) Floreth; a niece, Valerie; and nephews Michael, Timothy and Thane.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Carol.
