James P. Raburn, 77

James Phil Raburn, 77, of Irving, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at 8:42 p.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 16, beginning at 10 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Randy Sands, pastor of Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Garden in Fairview Heights with military honors.

Mr. Raburn was born June 16, 1943, in Deering, MO, to Leonard A. and Berl M. (Singleton) Raburn. He married Vicki Altevogt on Sept. 3, 1977, in Hillsboro, and she survives.

He graduated from East St. Louis High School and attended one year of college. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Raburn was a self-employed painter who resided in East St. Louis before moving to Montgomery County in 1975. He was a member of American Legion Post #425 in Irving, and loved golfing, fishing, wood working and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Joe Loyd (wife Penny) Raburn of Collinsville, Billie Lynn (husband Rick) Vincent of Maryville and Amanda (husband Josh) Gorsage of Witt; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Raburn was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Robert Raburn, Don Raburn and Bill Raburn.

Memorials may be directed to American Legion Post #425 in Irving.
