James L. “Jim” Storck, 75, of St. Elmo, died on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at St Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham.

A private burial will be held at Griffith Cemetery in Brownstown. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family.

Mr. Storck was born July 5, 1947, in St. Peter, to Eldon F. and Charles M. (Jenkins) Storck. He married Veronica “Roni” Lansford on Dec. 6, 1974, in St. Peter, and she preceded him in death in August 2022.

He served seven years in the U.S. Army, two tours in Vietnam, from December 1968-1969 and June 1971 to February 1972. During that time, he was awarded a Bronze Star.

Mr. Storck had worked in the oil fields and also as a concrete finisher before retiring.

He was instrumental in the Illinois Patriot Guard Riders, where he served on the board of directors and as a senior ride captain.

Mr. Storck is survived by Christopher (companion Amber Miller) Storck of Mattoon, Josh (wife Jennifer) Storck of Teutopolis and Kacee (companion Britt Ingram) Storck of St. Elmo; eight grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Sophya Lowry; and sisters, Vickie (husband Mike) Pannell of Alma and Linda Suckow of Altamont.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathy Lynn Storck; and brother-in-law, Melvin Suckow.
