James A Sexton, 49

James A Sexton, 49, of Springfield, formerly of Litchfield, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 15, 2021, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, from 10 a.m. to noon at Litchfield Family Funeral Service, 700 South State Street in Litchfield.  Funeral services will follow at noon, also at Litchfield Family Funeral Service.  Burial will follow in Elm Wood Cemetery. Litchfield Family Funeral Services will be assisting the family.

He was born Jan. 20, 1972, in Alton, a son of Richard E. and Norma Steward Sexton.  After attending Litchfield High School he joined the Army and served for two years. He later joined the work force as a store manager for several different convenience stores in Springfield.

He loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.  He enjoyed fishing, and watching NASCAR with close attention to Kevin Harvick and the late Dale Ernhart.  His real talents were aerosol and oil painting.  

He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Samantha L. England.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Norma and Charles Carlsen of Litchfield; son, Brett Sexton of Litchfield; daughter, Kayti Sexton of Auburn; son, John Hegel of Mt. Olive; four grandchildren; a sister, Tina Ervin of Delaware and companion, Peggy Adams of Springfield.
