It wasn’t a victory on the scoreboard, but it was a moral victory of sorts for the Hillsboro volleyball team on Thursday, Sept. 9.
Pana knocked off the Hiltoppers 25-9, 25-14 in the match, but Hillsboro played better against the Panthers than they did in their first meeting in the season opener.
“The score didn’t reflect it, but I feel like we played a lot better with them than we did just three weeks ago,” Coach Emily Zimmerman said. “We were point-for-point with them until about point 10.”
Alayna McCario, Sophia Blankenship and Layne Rupert led the attack with three kills each, while Kinley Richardson dished out eight assists. Defensively, Rupert had 10 digs, while Isabella White and Emilee Roemelin had three each. Adyson McCammack chipped in two blocks, while Blankenship had one. aBlankenship also had one of Hillsboro’s two aces, with Abbigail Schreiber serving up the other.
