For the third time in five races, Sorento racer Eldon Hemken ended the night in Victory Lane as he picked up a victory at the Charleston Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Racing in the Hornet division, Hemken ran first in the second heat to get a spot on the front row for the feature. He'd stay out front, beating Matt Adkins of Ashmore in the 11-car finale.
After picking up back-to-back wins on Aug. 7-8, Hemken nearly equalled that feat this past weekend as he took second overall in the UMP Sport Compact division on Friday, Aug. 21, at Tri City Speedway in Granite City.
Hillsboro racer Nathan Lynch was also at Tri City on Aug. 21, racing in the $1,000 Russ Wallace Memorial.
After a tough draw, Lynch finished sixth in the fifth heat and headed to the B Main. Despite starting tenth in the race, Lynch worked his way through the field and made it all the way to second by the time the checkered flag flew. Unfortunately, only the winner advanced, bringing Lynch's night to a close.
Nokomis racer Anton Loskot also raced at Tri-City, placing fifth in the second heat of the street stock class.
