After a lengthy layoff, the sport compacts came calling for Eldon Hemken once again as the Sorento racer hit the track on Saturday, July 17.
Racing at Federated Auto Parts 1-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO, Hemken broke the ice with an 18th place finish in the DirtCar Sport Compact division.
After making some changes and working some bugs out, Hemken was back in action on Wednesday, July 21, at the Christian County Fair. After starting sixth, Hemken moved up in his heat and finished fourth in qualifying.
Starting in the seventh spot in the 12-car feature, Hemken moved up one and finished sixth overall in the Hornet class in Taylorville.
