It was a triple-header, of sorts, for Sorento racer Eldon Hemken as the WHO2 racing team hit up three races in three days last weekend.
Two of the three events came at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City as Hemken raced in the track’s four-cylinder division. On Friday, Sept. 11, Hemken started fifth in his heat, but moved up to second by the time the checkered flag waved.
He’d have similar motives in the feature as he moved from his fourth starting spot all the way to second, Just behind Dallas Serauch, in the A Feature.
Tim Hancock, Jr., of Mt. Olive, also raced at Tri-City on Friday and finished 18th in the B Modified class.
On Sunday, Sept. 13, Hemken was back in Granite City. He would run third in his heat and wound up with a fifth place finish in the A Feature.
Sandwiched in between the two Tri-City races was a trip to Brownstown for Hemken. Going up against a crowded field in the Hornet division, Hemken started 14th in the feature and moved up nine spots to score a top five finish.
