The weekend couldn’t have been much better for Sorento racer Eldon Hemken as he picked up two victories in two nights.
Hemken started fourth in his heat race at Tri-City Speedway on Friday, Aug. 7, but worked his way up to first in the qualifier. In the feature, Hemken continued to run well and took first overall for a $500 payday.
On Saturday, Hemken and the WHO2 car were in Charleston for more racing in the hornet division. Again he would take first in his heat race and go on to win the final, making for a perfect sweep of the weekend.
Hemken entered the weekend tied for first in the UMP Sport Compact national points race with Dallas Strauch and should add to his total with the back-to-back wins.
