Sorento racer Eldon Hemken took home three top three finishes in as many races last weekend as he raced at Tri City Speedway on Sept. 18 and 20, with a trip to Charleston Speedway sandwiched in-between on Sept. 19.
Hemken ran fifth in his heat race in Tri-City's four cylinder division, but worked his way up through the field in the feature and took second overall in the ten-car field.
In Charleston, Hemken started fourth in the second heat, but won the qualifying race to earn a spot on the front row. He wouldn't travel back too far from there as he finished third in the 16-car race.
Hemken's weekend ended where it started, at Tri-City Speedway on Sept. 20. Starting toward the back in the first heat, he piloted the WHO2 to a fifth place finish in the qualifying race.
In the feature, Hemken would continue to move up, finishing third overall to gain some valuable points in the track standings.
Hemken was in first place in the Tri-City Speedway standings with 480 points, 96 more than second place Bryan Gegg. He is also second in the Fayette County Speedway Hornet division, just two points away from the top spot.
In the UMP Sport Compact regional and national standings, Hemken leads the list in the Western Region with 1,198 points and is third nationally behind Dallas Strauch and Dave Lauritson.
