Helen Evelyn (Braun) Zimmerman, 93, of Hillsboro, died at 9:52 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at Tremont Ridge in Hillsboro.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Daniel Willenborg as celebrant. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Zimmerman was born on Jan. 6, 1929, in Effingham, to Ferdinand and Mary (Bushur) Braun. She married Robert G. Zimmerman, Sr., on Jan. 27, 1951, in Effingham. He preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 2009.
Mrs. Zimmerman graduated from St. Anthony High School in Effingham. She was a homemaker. She loved to golf, read and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and Hillsboro Country Club.
Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by her children, Robert (wife, Donna) Zimmerman of Inverness; Kent (wife, Mary Pat) Zimmerman of Hillsboro; Greg Zimmerman of Hillsboro and Mary Beth Zimmerman of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; grandchildren, Lindsey (husband, Jason) Jones, Brian Zimmerman, Chad (wife, Emily) Zimmerman, Justin (wife, Jessica) Zimmerman, Elizabeth (husband, Oliver) Blackbourn, Mallory (husband, Matthew) Duncan and Remington Zimmerman; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; and two sisters.
Memorials may be designated to the St. Agnes Building Fund and the Robert and Helen Zimmerman Scholarship at the Education Foundation.
