Helen Elaine (White) Suhling, 68, of Irving, died on Friday, April 2, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, April 7, beginning at 10 a.m. at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield with Pastor Sue Bryce of United Methodist Church in Irving officiating. Family and friends will meet at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 9:15 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery. Due to CDC guidelines, masks and social distancing will be required.

Mrs. Suhling was born Jan. 21, 1953, in Hillsboro, to Wayne and Eleanor (Slagel) White. She married Dennis Suhling, and he preceded her in death in 2009.

She graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1971. During her career, she worked at The Journal-News, Hillsboro Area Hospital, Casey’s General Store, and helped run pony rides at Old Settlers.

Mrs. Suhling was a member of First Baptist Church in Litchfield and the Old Settlers Committee. She loved horses, cats and spending time with her family. Throughout her lifetime, she resided in Hillsboro and Irving.

She is survived by her siblings, Ruth Ann (husband Frank) Newberry of Irving, Alice (husband John) Fenton of Hillsboro and Russell (wife Pat) White of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Suhling was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Wayne and David White.
