The 2020 Grace Cup All-Star Soccer Games were scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 6, but continued concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic have forced the cancellation of this year’s event.
“We want to do what’s best for the players, their families and especially for Grace,” said Kyle Herschelman of Hillsboro, whose daughter is the event’s namesake. The games raise awareness for INAD (infantile neuroaxonal dystrophy), a rare genetic disorder that eight-year-old Grace is battling.
Since 2015, the games have featured more than 200 high school seniors from schools reaching from Springfield to the Metro-East, plus all points in-between.
“We want to thank everyone for their support with the Grace Cup over the last five years and we are looking forward to holding it again in 2021,” Herschelman said.
