Visitation will be held Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Fred Kraemer officiating. Burial will be in Nokomis City Cemetery.
Mrs. Mehochko was born in Hillsboro on Jan. 13, 1931, the daughter of Manse and Rosella (Roseman) Bellaver. The family moved to Nokomis where Mrs. Mehochko attended high school and was a member of the singing “No-Ko-Misses” and graduated in 1948. Upon graduation from high school, Mrs. Mehochko briefly attended Eastern Illinois University and later worked in the offices of Ball Brothers and the Montgomery County Courthouse.
In 1950, she married Gerald Mehochko of Nokomis. The couple had three children. Mrs. Mehochko recently talked about her occupations of wife and mother. She was devoted to her family and to God.
Mrs. Mehochko loved to sing and was a member of the church choir, a soprano, for many years. She would often still recall songs and sing to her family and friends. For years, she enjoyed walking at the local fitness center with her friends and always looked forward to Cardinals baseball season.
Mrs. Mehochko was a devoted Christian, loved worshipping God and loved her Zion Lutheran Church family. Her smile and positive outlook on life were a beacon to her family and friends. She was blessed to be able to stay in her home with the help of her family and many wonderful neighbors who she loved and who visited and walked with her regularly.
Mrs. Mehochko is survived by her sister, Mary Ann (Bellaver) Johnson of Nokomis; sons, George (Linda) Mehochko of New Baden and Gerald/Jerry (Jean) Mehochko of Hillsboro and daughter, Mary (Rich) Browning of Superior, CO; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Ratermann, Tyler and Brynn of Bartelso, Greg Mehochko, Garrett, Robert, and Matthew of Belleville and Caitlynn (Andy) Thomack, Ezekiel and Asher of Highland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, and parents, Manse and Rosella Bellaver.
The family would like to thank Quad County Hospice and Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and help in keeping her as comfortable as possible.
Mrs. Mehochko requested that donations, in lieu of flowers, be directed to Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
