George J. Spinner Jr., 92, of Hillsboro, died at 1 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at his home.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A private funeral service will follow. Father Daniel Willenborg, pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by VFW Post #1377 Bond County. Burial will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in Coffeen.  Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Spinner was born on Nov. 3, 1929, in Hillsboro, at the same address he passed away, to the late George J. Spinner Sr. and Edna (Meyer) Spinner. He married Martha Marie Durbin on Nov. 26, 1955, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis; she preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2016. Mr. Spinner was a U.S. Army Veteran and was stationed in Germany.

Mr. Spinner was a lifelong farmer who loved raising pigs. He was also a school bus driver. Mr. Spinner was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, Coffeen Lion’s Club, Pork Producers Association and Coachmen’s Camper Club. He had lived in the Hillsboro area his entire life. After his retirement he owned a second home in Leesburg, FL.

Mr. Spinner is survived by his children, Micki (husband, Tom) Chappelear of Hillsboro, Monica (husband, Phil) Millburg of Irving, Marla (husband, Don) Ulrici of Witt and Mary (special friend, Greg Chambers) Spinner of Hillsboro; grandchildren,  Jessica (husband, Justin) Rahn, Renee (husband, Trent) Laughlin; Dana (husband, Tyson) Holshouser,  Aleah Millburg, Andrew Millburg and Erika Spinner (companion, Alex Waldier); great-grandchildren, Brayden and Avery Laughlin, Hazel Rose Holshouser, Gracie and Piper Rahn and Hayden King; and his brother and sister, Harold Lee (wife, Bette) Spinner of Indiana and Shirley Myatt of Carlinville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George J. Spinner Sr. and Edna (Meyer) Spinner; his wife, Martha Marie Spinner; and his son Michael Spinner who preceded in 2005.
