George Allen Ruppe, 85, of Vandalia, died Dec. 24, 2021 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held in Vandalia at a later date. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ruppe was born in Coffeen on April 16, 1936, to Walter and Cordia Gertrude (Elam) Ruppe. He had early schooling in Coffeen and graduated from Hillsboro High School in1956.
He worked at Van Tran in Vandalia for 19 years, and worked at Irwin Seating folding bleachers.
He was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Hilltop Coin Club and the First Church of God in Vandalia.
He married Barbara Alender and she preceded him in death. He then married Cora Ruppe and she survives, along with one stepson, Randy Vincent of Vandalia. He raised two girls as daughters, Cindy Helton and Tiffany Gottman, both of Vandalia, along with three granddaughters and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ila Butler and Imogene Hudelson.
