Gary L. “Sammy” Boerckel, Sr., 66, of Litchfield, died on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Aperion Care in Litchfield.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Hough Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.
Mr. Boerckel was born May 18, 1955, in Highland, to Clarence and Dorothy (Riedleberger) Boerckel. He married Denise Davis, and she survives.
He served as a sexton at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.
Mr. Boerckel was a member of the Sorento Baptist Church and loved to go fishing.
In addition to his wife of 23 years, he is survived by three children, Kristal Boerckel of Nokomis, Gary Boerckel, Jr. and Scott Boerckel, both of Litchfield; three grandchildren, Chelsey Boerckel, David Friesland, Jr. and Scott Boerckel, Jr.; one stepgrandson, Shawn Wesbrook; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Boerckel was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Burnett; and daughter-in-law, Jennie Boerckel.
