Garry R. Williamson, 79, of Hillsboro, died at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at his residence.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at the Hillsboro Country Club. He will be eulogized by golfing buddies, water plant co-workers, and family. COVID-19 CDC guidelines will be followed.

Mr. Williamson was born on June 4, 1942, in Delhi, NY, to Russell Andrew and Stella Anna (Smith) Williamson. He married Pamelia Ann Marrin on Oct. 7, 1967. Mr. Williamson was in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 1961 to Feb. 1966 during Vietnam and was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital as an Operating Room Technician. Afterwards he was in the Naval Reserve from 1966 to 1970 in Springfield.

He was a 1961 graduate of Hillsboro High School. In 1999 he graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and received an EPA degree. Mr. Williamson worked for his dad at City Dairy in Hillsboro, delivering Litchfield Creamery products to commercial accounts. He was also employed as an assistant roofer at Piazza Roofing in Hillsboro, Capri IGA in Litchfield,  Williamson Meadow Gold Distributor in Hillsboro and worked for the City of Hillsboro Water Filtration Plant. Mr. Williamson was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Hillsboro Jaycees, and a Knights of Columbus bingo kitchen team member. He enjoyed golfing in his spare time.

Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife;  children, Laura S. Williamson and Jason R. Williamson; grandchildren, Jared R. Williamson, Jade R. Williamson and Jenna R. Williamson; and brother, Jim Williamson of Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings,  Norma Piazza and Ann Wagner.
