Fusion Kicks Off Lighten Up Challenge

Fusion Fitness and Aquatics in Hillsboro is kicking off the 12th annual Lighten Up for Montgomery County Challenge with the start of the new year.

The 12-week weight loss competition will start Jan. 4 with the same goal to help the county become healthier.

“We want to keep you motivated and determined to reach your weight loss goals and, let’s be honest, lose that quarantine weight,” said Jessica Chappelear, executive director at Fusion Fitness and Aquatics.

To participate, participants must stop by Fusion the week of Jan. 4 through Jan. 8 to weigh in, and pay $20 entry fee. All participants will have a chance to earn back their entry fee and more.

There will be a mid-point weigh-in as well, Feb. 10-12. If by this point, participants have lost 5 percent of their weight, they get $10 back. If not, they still have a chance to get their money back and win more. For those who do not lose the 5 percent, their money stays in the money pot!

The week of March 22-26 will end the competition with the final weigh-in, also done at Fusion.

If by this point, participants have lost 10 percent of their weight, they get a cut of the pot. All weight reports are kept confidential.

“You will be required to wear a mask when visiting us to weigh in,” Chappelear said. “But don’t worry, it shouldn’t affect the number on the scale! We look forward to another great challenge and another step to making Montgomery County healthier.”
