Freeman Sugg, 84, of Greenville, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Greenville, 1100 Killarney Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 5, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Robinson Cemetery in Pocahontas. Assalley-Young Funeral Home in Greenville is assisting the family.

Mr. Sugg was born Aug. 22, 1937, in Highland, to Wilbur and Elsie Sugg. He married Faye Albert on Nov. 23, 1957, at the Greenville Baptist Church, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2003. He later married Sandra (Ganzer) Kast on March 27, 2010, in Greenville, and she survives.

He was in the last graduating class of Pocahontas High School. 

During his career, Mr. Sugg managed the Sugg Standard Service Station for 30 plus years. He then worked at Carlisle SynTech from 1987 to 1999 before retiring.

As an outdoor enthusiast, he loved to mow grass, fish, watch the stock car races and do woodworking. He has been in the Bond County area for his entire life.

Mr. Sugg was a member of the First Christian Church of Greenville, and was considered to be strong, loyal and faithful among his family and friends. He was a simple, loving man who enjoyed life to the fullest.

In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by his children, Darla (Larry) Snow, Scott (Cathy) Sugg, both of Greenville, Janet Mucho of Troy and Becky (Bill) Spratt of Mulberry Grove; stepchildren, Michael (Jill) Kast of Elizabethtown, KY, Kevin (Kate) Kast of North Carolina and Kara (Jim) Quick of Mulberry Grove; nine grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Faye, Mr. Sugg was preceded in death by his parents.
