Floyd Wayne Nail, 90, of Litchfield, died on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at his residence.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m., until the time of service on Saturday, July 17, at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield. Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Rudy Elam officiating. Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Nail was born on Oct. 29, 1930, in Hillsboro Township, a son of the late Theodore and Ruby (Cavender) Nail. He married the former Edna A. Funk on July 2, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Litchfield. Mr. Nail was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having served from Oct. 1948 until Oct. 1952.

Mr. Nail attended Litchfield High School. He worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Litchfield as a foreman from 1946 until its closing in 1964.  Mr. Nail worked at Morton Building as a salesman and retired after five years of asbestos removal. He was a member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge for 68 years and was the oldest active member. Mr. Nail enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Cardinals baseball fan. He also enjoyed watching the “old westerns” on television.

Mr. Nail is survived by his wife; daughters, Mary Jo (Tony) Frank of Mattoon, Barbara (Terry) Alexander of St. Petersburg, FL; sons, Fred (Audrey) Nail of Benld and Mike Nail of Butler; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee (Regina) Nail, Oran (Irma) Nail and Leonard (Fay) Nail; and sister and brother-in-law, Louise (Levi) Laird.
