Emma Ellen Cress, 91, of Hillsboro, died at 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at her residence.
Cremation rites were accorded and no services are planned at this time.
Mrs. Cress was born on May 23, 1930, in Montgomery County, to the late Evan and Mae (Simpson) Titsworth. She married Jack Cress on Oct. 13, 1951, in Champaign, he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2011.
She was a 1948 graduate of Hillsboro High School. Mrs. Cress had worked as the head librarian at the Hillsboro Public Library. She lived in Montgomery County most of her life. She also lived in Chicago and California for short times while her husband was in the service. Mrs. Cress loved spending time with her family, doing needle point and gardening.
Mrs. Cress is survived by her children, Max (wife, Kimberley) Cress of Hillsboro, Carl (wife, Cheryl) Cress of Hillsboro and Bruce (wife, Betty) Cress of Sun City West, AZ; six grandchildren, Jason Cress, Zack Cress, Mollie Bauer, Abby Cress, Melanie Irvine and Adam Cress; six great-grandchildren, Chloe Irvine, Emily Irvine, Anna Cress, Jack Cress, Logan Cress and Reid Cress; and one great-great-grandchild, Lucy Bauer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Kenneth Titsworth; and her sister, Wilma Hefley.
