Ellen R. Brown Snyder, 88, of Harrisburg, formerly of Irving, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, in Harrisburg.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Rhodus officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery.

Mrs. Snyder was born on June 8, 1933, in Witt, the daughter of Lester and Mercy (Hadley) Compton. She married Harold “Ed” Brown. He preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1977. She married Donald Snyder and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2005.

Mrs. Snyder received her GED at the age of 30. She was a homemaker, and was a past member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro and was a current member of Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She read her bible daily from the age of 14. She cherished her family, especially the little ones.

Mrs. Snyder is survived by her daughter Marcia (husband Dwight) Pray of Harrisburg; son Mark (wife Roxie) Brown of Witt; step-children Shirley (husband Mike) Korunka of Mt. Olive, Donna (husband James) Green of Litchfield, Steven (wife Sherian) Snyder of Mt. Olive; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and sister Jenny (husband Edmund) Hill of Nokomis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Ed Brown and Donald Snyder; daughter Marla Settle; grandson Brandon Pray; great-granddaughter Hadley Wallace; step-daughter Vicky Scott; step-son Rich Snyder; and six brothers and one sister.
