Eldon Garry Saathoff, 78, of Lake City, FL, formerly of Taylor Springs, died on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, FL.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.

Mr. Saathoff was born on Sept. 13, 1943, in Hillsboro, to Ellswood and Wanetta (Neathery) Saathoff. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Lang, in Hillsboro on Oct. 27, 1963.

Mr. Saathoff began his school years in Sorento before moving with his family to Taylor Springs in 1951, where he finished his elementary education. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1961. After graduation, he attended Rankin Trade School in St. Louis, MO. He began his career with J.C. Stevens and Associates in St. Louis, MO, In May 1966, he was hired by A.E. Staley of Decatur and held various management positions at their manufacturing plants in Morrisville, PA; Layfayette, IN; Monte Vista, CO; and Decatur. While in Colorado he was offered a position with Penford Products (now Ingredion) in Cedar Rapids, IA. At Penford he served as director of special projects and vice-president of operations. He retired in Oct. 1999, and his wife moved to Lake City, FL. During his retirement, Mr. Saathoff and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home while he did consulting work for Penford.

Mr. Saathoff is survived by his wife; two sons, Bret (Gail) Saathoff of Kaukauna, WI, and Todd (Dianna) Saathoff of Collierville, TN; four grandchildren, Ashley and Cole Saathoff of Kaukauna, WI, Zachary Saathoff of St. Louis, MO, Katelyn Saathoff of Windsor, Ontario, Canada; brother, Elwin (Bonnie) Saathoff of Hillsboro; sister, Elleta (Don) Hamby of Hillsboro; brother-in-law, Gary Lang of Cancun, Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and parents-in-law, Berton “Shorty” and Edna Lang.
