Eileen Marie Starr, 96, of Litchfield, formerly of Nokomis and Irving, died Sunday, May 24, 2020, at 9:24 p.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Plummer Funeral Services in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Starr was born March 17, 1924, the daughter of William and Nellie (Skouby) Lorts. She married Frank Theodore Starr on Jan. 28, 1966, in Fillmore, and he preceded her in death in 2002.
She was a sales clerk at Irving Grocery, Walker’s and Ben Franklin stores. She was a waitress at various local restaurants.
A member of Faith Fellowship Church in Nokomis, she loved nature and liked to garden both vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed her cats, as well as cooking, sewing and mushroom hunting. She enjoyed having company, spending time with her family whom she cherished, listening to gospel music and making others happy.
She is survived by one daughter, Nance (Kent) Breuchaud of Litchfield; one stepdaughter, Diane Eatmon of Muldrow, OK; one stepson, Tom (Sue) Starr of Pocahontas; three grandchildren, Joseph (Dora) Matich, Tim Matich and Laura Matich; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan Melton and Tesa Toney.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilmer and Clyde Lorts.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
