Hillsboro’s Jon Durbin picked up a win in the Throwback class at the Sunoco Race Fuel Spring Shootout Pro-Am at Lincoln Trail Motosports on April 4, one of several area riders to make the trip to Casey Easter Sunday.
Durbin won both motos in the race, posting a fast lap of 2:41.376 in the first moto and 2:39.700 in the second for the fastest lap of the class.
Durbin wasn’t the only winner on Sunday. Trenton Kimbro of Taylor Springs raced in three divisions and took first in the Super Mini (12-16) class. Kimbro also took third in the 85cc Senior (12-15) class and eighth in the 85cc Open (9-15) class, which drew 17 racers.
Ty White of Taylor Springs would take second in the Open beginner division, with Litchfield’s Bailey Powell coming in 10th in the same class.
Litchfield’s Camron Bone would compete in two 65cc class. Bone, the hill climb national champion for his division, placed ninth in the 65cc Junior (7-9) class and 11th in the 65cc Open (7-11) class.
Six other area results had a familial feel to them.
Blake Copeland of Taylorville, formerly of Morrisonville, picked up a win in the 25+ A class and was also sixth in the Open A Class. His father, Aaron, was 4th in the 40+ A class.
Gerald Harrison, Jr. of Morrisonville would take third in the 40+ B/C class, while Callen Harrison was 6th in the 65cc Junior (7-9) class.
Brothers Dawson and Ethan Chestnut both competed in the Open A class, with Dawson taking 12th and Ethan coming in 18th.
The next event at Lincoln Trail will be on Sunday, May 2, when the Fly Racing Showdown Series continues with its second event of the year.
