Dorothy Marie Heaton, 74, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Farmersville, died on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 3:10 p.m. at Inverness Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Inverness after a 25-year long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville. Funeral Mass will follow, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church with Father John Burnette officiating. Burial will be held at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Farmersville. Hough Memorial Home in Farmersville is assisting the family.

Mrs. Heaton was born Sept. 25, 1947, to Paul E. and Frances E. (Dietz) Clarke. She married David Heaton on March 11, 1967, in Farmersville, and he survives.

She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville, where she was a proud member of the choir. For many years, she also helped with the Waggoner Play and served as treasurer for the village of Farmersville.

In her earlier years, Mrs. Heaton worked at the Hospital Corps School at the Great Lakes Naval Academy. After returning to Farmersville, she started working for the State of Illinois. She then began her career at State Bank of Farmersville/Bank and Trust Company. After more than 33 years, she retired as the branch assistant manager.

She loved to paint and create beautiful floral arrangements for her home and the homes of her loved ones.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, Mrs. Heaton is survived by her daughter, Maria (David) McFeggan; grandchildren, Jordan and Elyse McFeggan; brother, Larry (Jo) Clarke; and sister, Carol Clarke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret Griffith; and her son, Shane Heaton.
