Donald O. Hoehn, 89, died away on Jan. 1, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation held on Saturday, Jan. 4, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Burial followed at Calvery Cemetery in Nokomis. Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home of Nokomis is assisting the family.

Mr. Hoehn was born March 3, 1935, in Nokomis, to Oscar and Maggie (Mindurp) Hoehn. He served his country in the U.S. Army. When he returned home, he started farming and would continue farming until his retirement in 1998.

Mr. Hoehn married Elsie Voils on Dec. 2, 1961, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis, and she survives.

Mr. Hoehn enjoyed doing many activities throughout his life and retirement including bowling, softball and golfing, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. But nothing brought him more joy than spending time with all of his family.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hoehn is survived by his children Melissa (Ron) Varela of California, Lori (Bryan) Kimbro of Fillmore, Kurt Hoehn of Nokomis and Timothy (Sherry) Hoehn of Teutopolis; grandchildren  Tyler (Maria) Kimbro, Troy (Savannah) Kimbro, Keneisha Hoehn, Devyn (Niles) Gaskin, Alexis Hoehn, Austin Hoehn and Peyton (Kelsie) Hoehn; and great-grandchildren Landon and Reagan Kimbro and Kylan Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Everette Hoehn, Lucille Barber, Clarence Hoehn and Elizabeth Hoehn.
