Don Eugene Wagner, 85, of Mt. Olive, died on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Private family graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield with the Rev. Skyler Elmer, pastor of Christian Church of Litchfield, officiating. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family.

Mr. Wagner was born June 23, 1935, in Pocahontas, to Clarence and Lorraine (Hall)Wagner. He married Jeannette Maples on June 26, 1954, in Greenville, and they later divorced. He then married Wanda Budd on May 16, 2002, and she survives.

He worked at AO Smith for 26 years, owned a cab company in Collinsville, and served as a construction laborer, retiring in 2001.

Mr. Wagner enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, and especially enjoyed his time at the farm and helping the boys on their projects in the warmer months. He enjoyed watching the Cardinals and traveling in his motorhome to the south in the winter with his wife and their dog, Pebbles.

He was a member of the Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wagner is survived by his daughter, Karen Wagner of Collinsville; sister, Betty (Dallas) Allen of O’Fallon; three stepsons, Jim (Sheila) Gipson and Rob (Shelley) Gipson, both of Mt. Olive, and Kevin (Gretchen) Gipson of Huntsville, AL: 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carla Sullivan; sisters, Marjorie Wilkins and Marilyn Shoalte; and brothers, Albert Wagner, Walter Wagner, Howard Wagner and Herbert Wagner.
