Dena Grace (Gerl) Stockamp, 94, of Sorento, died on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at 11:45 p.m. at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 201 S. Main St., Sorento. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 22, beginning at 11 a.m. at Sorento United Methodist Church, 303 S. Hill St., Sorento, with the Rev. Nancy Ribes and the Rev. Tom Brewer co-officiating. Interment will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.
Mrs. Stockamp was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Sorento, to Willard and Stella Maude (Stechman) Gerl. She married Robert T. Stockamp on Jan. 27, 1945, in Sorento, and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2003.
She graduated from Sorento High School, and spent her adult life as a homemaker.
Mrs. Stockamp was a lifelong member of the Sorento United Methodist Church and longtime member of the Kessinger American Legion Post #713 Auxiliary and the Panama VFW Post #6628 Auxiliary.
In her free time, she enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Mrs. Stockamp is survived by her children, Paul (wife Lisa) Stockamp, Diana McKean, both of Greenville, and Michael Stockamp of Sorento; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willard “Udell” Gerl; great-granddaughters, Stella and Nicole; and son-in-law, Tom McKean.
Memorials may be directed to the Sorento United Methodist Church or Sunnyside Cemetery Association.
