Deja Vu For Lancers With Close Victory

For the third straight match, the Lincolnwood-Morrisonville boys golf team escaped with a narrow win and a share of individual medalist honors on Monday, Sept. 20.

After two-stroke wins over Hillsboro and Auburn last week, the margin was even closer on Monday as the Lancers defeated Rochester 184 to 185 at Lincoln Greens Golf Course in Springfield. The Rockets would have 12 pars on their home course, three more than the Lancers, who had the match’s only birdie.

As he did in the aforementioned wins, Nate Brockmeyer tied for the top spot, this time matching Rochester’s Mike Pemborton with a 5-over-par 41. Brockmeyer was 4-over after four holes on the back nine of the Springfield course, but finished his round with four pars in his last five holes.

Colton Tischkau and Lance Weitekamp both shot 46s to back Brockmeyer, while Brady Schmedeke had the fourth scoring round with a 51.

Fifth man Michael Graham was two strokes away from Schmedeke and had the match’s only birdie, a three on the par-4 10th hole, while Jonah Elvidge shot a 57 as the Lancer sixth man.

Lincolnwood was scheduled to play at Country Hills Golf Course in Greenview on Sept. 21, but rain changed the Lancers’ plans. Instead they will be off until Friday, Sept. 24, when they host Northwestern and South County.
