Dawgs Have Their Day At Paw-ty In The Park

Posted

After visiting the new Hillsboro dog park, Kati (Hampton) Fenton of Litchfield developed a passion and desire to build a community “Bark Park” in Litchfield.

With the help of so many Litchfield dog lovers and the hearts of volunteers, Fenton created a committee to help her raise funds to make Litchfield’s dog-gone dreams for our fur-ever friends come true.

Beginning with a “Paw-ty in the Park” celebration/fundraiser, the Bark Park committee drew vendors and sponsors from all over central Illinois.

The Paw-ty in the Park celebration on July 18, hosted at Walton Park, was a huge success. The celebration was made possible by the event sponsor, Animal Medical Center of Litchfield; raffle basket coordinators Jeff and Debbie Compton Kornmann, Linda Meier, Caitlyn Scheifer, and Greg and Lisa Berwin; kids craft volunteers Cathy Fenton, Mr. Z, and Jen Reid with the Holy Family youth group; nail trims by Alicia Dewitt of Oliver and Co. Grooming; family photo booth volunteers Darin and Dawn Ashby and Carol Millburg; Benld Adopt a Pet; vendor organizer Cindy Roach Brune; Paw-pularity Pageant volunteers Brielle Marten, Kaja Carter, and Emily Frerichs; DJ services by D.J. and Jackie Peck; dunk tank volunteers John and Trish Fenton and family, Jake Cunningham, Libby Lamb, Jeff Kornmann and Denny Dwyer; event T-shirts by Renee Wynn; obedience training demonstration by Dawn Kernich Kettler of DK9 Training, and social media handler Morgan Meade.

Together this event became family and puppy friendly featuring a little something for everyone. With all of the amenities planned for the new Bark Park, more fundraising and donations are in the works.

The Bark Park committee is planning many more events to continue growing revenue to contribute to creating a safe and fun environment for not only our furry pals, but also an area for families to enjoy.
