David “Drummer Dave” Wilhelm, 61, of Sorento, died on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, at 4:07 a.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Sorento is assisting the family.

Mr. Wilhelm was born Feb. 22, 1961, in St. Louis, MO, to Richard and Minnie (McFadden) Wilhelm, Sr. He married Vicki Acklin on May 15, 2015, in Reno, and they have enjoyed each other’s companionship for the past seven years. She survives.

He graduated from Highland High School with the class of 1979, where he was the first male cheerleader ever.

During his career, Mr. Wilhelm worked for D&L Drywall in Staunton for many years and was currently the owner and operator of D.J. Construction in Litchfield.

He was humorous and could make anyone smile. He never sat still, constantly working on projects or tinkering with cars and other motors. He played in many area bands, including Hideaway and Country Rose. He had an infectious personality, and he always left his mark on everyone who met him.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wilhelm is survived by his children, Amy Wilhelm, Megen Wilhelm, Justin Wilhelm, Willian Wilhelm, David Schehl, Mark Massey, Jason Van Huss and Dawson Haraugh; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Richard (wife Cindy) Wilhelm of Irving, Calvin McFadden of New Johnsonville, TN, and Tim Ross of Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda Leach; and nephew, Nathaniel Wilhelm.
