David William Bailey, 75, of Litchfield, died on Friday morning, Jan. 24, 2025, at his home in Litchfield.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bailey was born Sept. 22, 1949, in Harvel, a son of Homer Dwight and Dorothy Louise (Prange) Bailey. He graduated from Lincolnwood High School in Raymond with the class of 1968 and attended Lincoln Land College.

Mr. Bailey was a proud veteran serving with the Marine Corp. After leaving the service he was an engineer and switchman for the Central Illinois railroad system. He did most of his work in Chicago and in Illinois Midland. Being a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield was how he showed his faith. He loved sports and was an avid Cardinal and Arkansas Razorback fan. He played softball often and was the team’s catcher.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his son, Jaime (significant other Anna Hubert) of Litchfield; grandson, Jayden Joseph; sister, Joyce (Jim) Cranford of Litchfield; sister, Janice (William) Kalaher of Litchfield; several nieces and nephews as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy Franzen.
