David L. Pizzo, 74, of Quincy, formerly of Hettick, died Friday, July 10, 2020, at Farmington Country Care in Farmington.

Private graveside services were held Tuesday, July 14, at Gilead Cemetery with the Rev. Don Durbin officiating. Burial followed in Gilead Cemetery in Hettick. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pizzo was born Dec. 21, 1945, in Alton, a son of George Robert and Nina (Hall) Pizzo.  He married Helen Crum on Sept. 24, 1977, in Hettick, and she preceded him in death on July 18, 2006.

A graduate of Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, he continued his studies at Sangamon State and Trinity colleges. He enjoyed cartoons, football and his favorite newspapers with a good cup of coffee.  He worked for the State of Illinois at the Department of Human Services and later for the Macoupin County Mental Health Department in Carlinville.

He is survived by his children, Kathryn Pizzo of St. Petersburg, FL, Gabriel Pizzo of Tampa, FL, Amanda (Carl) Gaertner of Carlinville and Issac (Misty) Pizzo of Litchfield; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Pizzo and several half-brothers.

Memorials may be made to Gilead Cemetery in Hettick.
