David Loren Grove, 67, of Litchfield, died on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Clifford Woodman of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville officiating. Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.
Mr. Grove was born June 29, 1955, in Litchfield, to Harry A. and Wilma June (Atteberry) Grove. He married Cynthia A. Trobaugh on Dec. 10, 1987, at First Baptist Church in Litchfield, and she survives.
He graduated from Litchfield High School and Lincoln Land Community College. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1977.
Mr. Grove, a devout Christian and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville, enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, playing music at church, singing and writing songs and poetry.
He was employed as an accountant at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield for 42 years. His greatest loves were God, his family and the St. Louis Cardinals.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Grove is survived by his daughter, Abby (Barry) Wright of Marion; sister, Sharon (Richard) Wimberly of Litchfield; two grandchildren, Grace Wright and Andrew Wright; two nieces, Stacie (Brad) Stanford and Melissa (Brent) Austin; and a nephew, Steven (Alisha) Wimberly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry Grove and Bruce Grove; and a nephew, Michael Grove.
