David Carl Rentz, 81, of Litchfield, died on Feb. 16, 2022, at Hillsboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
No visitation or funeral service will be held at this time.
Mr. Rentz was born on Nov. 12, 1940, to Garrett L. and Naomi (Huff) Rentz. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958, and then enlisted in the Army shortly after. Mr. Rentz was an expert rifleman and sergeant cook. He married Judith Ann Wagner in 1962. They were married for 22 years and had two sons. He later married Geraldine Greenwood (deceased). He was last married to Barbara Price, and she preceded him in death in 2019.
Mr. Rentz was an avid hunter and enjoyed deer hunting in Southern Illinois each year. He was a very active member with the Church of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Rentz was also a member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge. He spent many years as the owner and operator of Rentz Cleaners. Later in life he spent several years selling campers for Diamond Trailer Sales.
Mr. Rentz is survived by his sons, Scott (Sheryl) Rentz of Montgomery and Craig (Karen) Rentz of Litchfield; four grandchildren, Garrett (Randi) Rentz of Winter Garden, FL; Tyler Rentz of Montgomery, and Blake and Hailey Rentz of Litchfield; and several step-children and grandchildren from previous marriages.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Price; and previous wife, Geraldine Greenwood.
