Daniel Hill Ronen, 77, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, at his residence.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Memorial services will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Father Daniel Willenborg of Holy Family Catholic Church will preside. Burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery in Litchfield. Plummer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
Mr. Ronen was born in St. Louis, MO, on Dec. 24, 1946, to Daniel Vernon and Rachel Dean (Hill) Ronen. He and the former Vickie Lynn Ferrari were married on Dec. 5, 1970, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Litchfield, and she survives. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1965 and attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp., during his four years of military service, he spent 14 months in Vietnam, and the balance stateside with the office of the legal staff of Headquarters company at Camp Lejeune, NC.
He was employed for many years as an electrician with Litchfield Creamery Co./Milnot Co, A & D Electric Supply, as a dispatcher for the Illinois State Police and Mark Burdell Construction. He enjoyed walking and bike rides, putting his woodworking skills to use making Cabbage Patch doll cradles, cutting and splitting firewood and listening to country western music. He cherished time spent with his family and loved his Alaskan Malamute, Keiko.
In addition to his wife, Vickie, Mr. Ronen is survived by daughters, Jill (Gary) Huddlestun of Raymond and Sarah Spencer of Litchfield; brother, Dennis (Andrea) Ronen of Irving; grandchildren, Rayna Lynn Spencer, Kyrsten Elizabeth Spencer, Lilly Marie Mabrey and Trystan Daniel Mabrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Rachel Ronen.
Memorials may be made to Litchfield Veterans Memorial Garden or Residential Hospice Foundation.
