Daniel Henry Schuette, 76, of Mt. Olive, died on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025 at his residence.
A graveside service was held on Friday, Jan. 17, at Spangle Cemetery in Staunton. Becker and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Schuette was born on April 11, 1948 in Tuscola, to the late Herman Louis Schuette and Ester Ann (Grosenheider) Schuette. He attended Livingston schools. He married Virginia Barnes on May 31, 1980, in Gillespie and they later divorced. On Jan. 8, 1998, he married Sandra Kay (Bridges) Schuette in Carlinville and she survives. He worked at several dairy farms and was also employed by Echlin in Litchfield and Highland Supply in Highland. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and attending motorcycle races and hill climbs. He loved his family and delighted in gathering to celebrate the holidays with lots of food and games. On many July 4ths, he and his brother, Joe, would stage a spectacular fireworks display.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Schuette is survived by his son, Clay (Stacy) Schuette; brother, David (Kathy) Schuette; sisters, Jane Blotevogel, Joy (Jim) Furey and Gay Anschutz; sister-in-law, Leslie Schuette; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; Frank and Mina Grosenheider and Henry and Louise Schuette; brother, Joseph Schuette and brother-in-law, Barry Anschutz.
Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Christ in Staunton, where Mr. Schuette was a member.
