Daniel Conrad Bailey, Sr., 94, of Springfield, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Private family graveside services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Bisch and Son Funeral Home of Springfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Bailey was born on Aug. 14, 1927, in Litchfield, the son of William H. and Bertha (Kinsler) Bailey. He married Betty J. Abner on May 14, 1950, and she survives.

Mr. Bailey retired from the US Air Force in 1975, after 30 years of service. He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Mr. Bailey later worked as an assistant manager for Kmart. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Club Chapter #15 and the American Legion. He was a proud person who put his family over everything.

In addition to his wife of 72 years, Mr. Bailey is survived by a daughter Karen K. (husband Larry) Hayes of Springfield; two sons, Daniel C. (wife Barbara) Bailey, Jr. of Chatham and Carl M. (wife Cheyenne) Bailey of Lincoln; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Gladys, Laura, Betty and Dorothy; and three brothers, Wade, Homer, and Paul.
