Dana Kepley Anderson, 63, of Greenville, died on Friday, July 9, 2021, at HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 14, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Young Funeral Home in Greenville. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Mt. Auburn Cemetery with the Rev. Amy Marcoot officiating.

Ms. Anderson was born Dec. 9, 1957, in Highland, to Allen Richard and Lois June (Justi) Kepley.

After graduating Greenville High School, she attended Illinois State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree.

Ms. Anderson was a teacher, a “good explainer,” and was referred to as “Mrs. A” by all her students. She was a member of the teacher’s union and was a huge fan of the University of Illinois, where her brother attended and her son earned a bachelor's degree.

Family and friends most describe her as a best friend. She cared about her children and grandchildren.

Ms. Anderson loved music, especially Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Traveling Wilbury’s, and attended a Willie Nelson concert. She also enjoyed TV programs such as Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, Law and Order, Two and a Half Men, and loved her Al Pacino. She was close to her black lab, Oreo, who also just recently passed. For many years, she cared very much for the family dog, Lucky, who grew up with her children before he passed a little more than a decade ago.

She is survived by her children, Dr. James Kepley Anderson of Riverside, CA; daughter, Katy (Blake Weiss) Anderson of Greenville; stepdaughter, Carrie Anderson of Decatur; grandchildren, Samuel, Miles, Yadi, Brooke and Allison; and brother, Kevin (Donna) Kepley of St. Louis, MO.

Ms. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents.
