Dale Delmar Schmedeke, 91, of Morrisonville, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, located at 304 Carlin St., Morrisonville. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Maurice Catholic Church, located at 706 SE 4th St. in Morrisonville. Burial will be held in St. Maurice Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Mr. Schmedeke was born Nov. 25, 1933, in Morrisonville, the son of Frank and Sarah (Berkshire) Schmedeke. He grew up in the Morrisonville/Farmersville area and lived there his entire life. He married Helen Dolores O’Brien at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville on Sept. 3, 1956.

Mr. Schmedeke was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church since 1956. He worked for Farmer’s Pellet in addition to farming and raising livestock. He enjoyed mowing and keeping an immaculate yard. He loved raising cattle, goats, hogs, peacocks, guineas and chickens, as well as many spoiled dogs throughout his lifetime. Most importantly, Mr. Schmedeke loved and cherished his family. He was known for getting down on the floor to play with his grandchildren and made it a priority to hold each of his 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Schmedeke is survived by his children, Denise M. (Mike) Millburg of Morrisonville, Debbie (John) Miller of Harvel and Daniel (Amy) Schmedeke of Morrisonville; grandchildren, Ryan M. (Jessica) Millburg of Farmersville, Jarrod E. (Audra) Millburg of Carlinville, Kyle N. (Ashley) Millburg of Morrisonville, Megan M. Millburg of Morrisonville, Phillip (Angie) Miller of Springfield, Bradley Miller of Nokomis, Jeffrey Miller of Farmersville, Katheryn (Chris) Dugan of Lincoln and Nicole Schmedeke of Morrisonville; great-grandchildren, Emma, Rex, Jaxcyn, Maebre, Landon, Max, Jack, Riley, Colton, Gracelyn and Caden.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Dolores; siblings, Herb Schmedeke, Robert “Bob” Schmedeke, Marjorie Sullivan, Frank Schmedeke, Carl Schmedeke, Claude Schmedeke, Earl Schmedeke and twin brother Gale Schmedeke.
