A revamped version of an early season favorite for soccer fans will make its debut in 2021 as the Kickoff Classic On Route 66 runs from Aug. 28 through Sept. 1.

All three Montgomery County soccer teams will be playing in the event, which has been held in Carlinville for several years, but will add games at North Mac this season.

Both Hillsboro and Lincolnwood will play at the new site, along with the host school and Staunton. Litchfield is on the other side of the tournament, joining host Carlinville, Lutheran and Athens.

All teams will play two games on Aug. 28, followed by one game on Aug. 31 and crossover play held on Sept. 1. The final games will be played at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in both Carlinville and Virden, with the match-ups to be determined once pool play is complete. A full schedule for the tournament is below.
