Cora Marie (Kessen) Pieper, 94, of Hillsboro, formerly of Nokomis and Litchfield, died on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Nokomis. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family.

Mrs. Pieper was born July 25, 1926, in Oconee to George H. and Anna (Rawley) Kessen. She married Lawrence E. Pieper on March 2, 1946, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pana, and he preceded her in death.

She graduated from Pana Township High School with the class of 1944. She retired from Ronk Electric, and had also worked at Hedlund’s Ski Factory and the Candy Kitchen.

Mrs. Pieper is survived by her daughter, Carol (Steve) Ulrich of Litchfield; son, George Pieper of Washington, D.C.; daughter-in-law, Mona Pieper of Fair Grove, MO; sisters, Gertie Gross of Coulterville and Lenora Miller of Pana; grandchildren, Todd Graden, Toni (Mark) Spainhour, Anna (Steve) Certuche, Raelynn (Greg) Craley, Dawn Pieper, Melissa (Tommy) Grosenheider and Megan (Zac) Ervin; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jean Ann Graden; son, Larry Pieper; and sister, Ruth Gross.
