Claire M. Dennison, 74, of Mulberry Grove, died on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at 3:15 p.m. at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Assalley-Young Funeral Home in Greenville is assisting the family.
Mrs. Dennison was born Jan. 18, 1948, in East St. Louis, to Nick and Billie Jean (Westler) Leone.
She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in East St. Louis and went on to receive her certification as a certified nursing assistant.
During her career, Mrs. Dennison worked for many years providing in-home healthcare before working for Brookstone Estates in Vandalia. She later retired from Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville.
She was an extraordinary and generous person. She enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren, and she enjoyed the time she spent taking care of her clients.
Mrs. Dennison was an avid reader, and she especially loved Stephen King novels. She also collected antique dolls, paper dolls, Raggedy Ann and Andy memorabilia and Garfield memorabilia.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly (husband James) Foltz of Mulberry Grove and Tony (wife Beth) Dennison of Trenton; grandchildren, Ryan (wife Ranae) Dennison, Jason (wife Chelsea) Dennison, Nathan (wife Christine) Dennison, Zackary (wife Leann) Foltz, Benjamin (wife Shania) Foltz, Madelyn Dennison and Cooper Dennison; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Michael, Neal, Tessa, Chloe, Alex, Ellie and Emma; siblings, Nick (wife Mary) Leone, Bill (wife Trisha) Leone, Mary Harris and Angie (Scott) Lightner; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dennison was preceded in death by her parents.
