Christopher “Chris” Y. Compton, 58, of Panama, died on Friday, June 12, 2020, at his residence.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17, from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Funeral Mass will follow, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Father Dan Willenborg officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Panama. Those attending the services are encouraged to following social distancing guidelines and wear a mask. Services will be live streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.
Mr. Compton was born Nov. 30, 1961, in San Antonio, TX, to Ballard L. and June R. (Michel) Compton.
He graduated from Hillsboro High School. During his career, he worked as an over-the-road truck driver and was a distributor of restaurant appliances, including sales and installation.
Mr. Compton was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro and was a fourth degree member of the Litchfield K of C. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his siblings, Joe Compton of Pinckneyville, Becky Schmitt and Mike Compton, both of Litchfield, Mary Moore and Pat Lentz, both of Panama, Dan Compton of Franklin, TN, and Roger Compton of Edwardsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Compton was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Rita, in infancy.
Memorials may be directed to St. Agnes for masses or the Montgomery County Cancer Association.
