Charles “Charlie” Richard Bierbaum, 91, of Litchfield, died on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Fred Kraemer presiding. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Litchfield Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bierbaum was born on May 13, 1933 in Litchfield, a son of Charlie W. and Minnie Hartke Bierbaum. He married June Ritterbush on April 4, 1964, in New Holland, and she survives. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1951. He was in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
He was a farmer in the Litchfield area for twenty years and was also a loan officer at Bank and Trust, retiring in 2002. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield and enjoyed working on the family farm throughout his entire life. He also enjoyed bowling.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bierbaum is survived by his sons, Richard (Krista) Bierbaum of Marshall, MI, and Daniel Bierbaum of Litchfield; grandson, Luke Bierbaum; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Hayes, Lois Senter and Wilma Zimmerman; and brothers, Earl and Leon Bierbaum.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran School.
