Carroll L. Franzen, 84 of Gilbert, AZ, formerly of Nokomis, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at Gilbert Mercy Hospital in Gilbert, AZ.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 12, at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Chandler, AZ. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Aug. 26 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Nokomis at 4 p.m.
Mr. Franzen was born Jan. 27, 1940, in Pana, the son of Louis Franzen and Lucille Franzen Grauer. He married Janice J. Franzen Meier on Sept. 10, 1967, in Nokomis, and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2018.
Mr. Franzen never met a stranger and was always working in one or more jobs most of his life. They included produce manager, grocery store manager, bookkeeper, handyman, painter and funeral home assistant. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis and Epiphany Lutheran Church in Chandler, AZ. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and instilled a love of these things in his Children, and was always tinkering in his garden. His retirement included adventuring with his wife in their RV around the U.S. and spending time with their grandchildren.
Mr. Franzen is survived by his son, Keith (wife Nancy) Franzen and their three daughters from Gilbert, AZ, and daughter Sheila (partner Cynthia Nustad ) Franzen and their two daughters from Ventura, CA; his twin sister Carolyn (Sarsany) Merkel of Hillsboro; and six nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
